Restless.The Young and the Restless is an American soap opera created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. The show is set in a fictional town called Genoa City Wisconsin, which is different and unrelated to the real-life people of the same name, Genoa City, Wisconsin. First broadcast March 26, 1973, the Young and the Restless was originally broadcast as half-hour episodes, five times a week. Was expanded to one hour episodes February 4, 1980. In 2006 the series began airing weekdays SOAPnet. The show is also syndicated internationally.
The Young and the Restless originally cantered on two main families, the wealthy Brooks family and the poor Foster family. After a series of recasts and departures in early 1980 all the original characters, except Abbott Jill Foster wrote. Bell replaced them with the new core families, the Abbott and Williams. Over the years, other families like the Newman’s and the winters were introduced. Despite these changes, a history that has endured through almost the entire run show is the enmity between Jill Foster Abbott and Katherine Chancellor, the biggest rivalry in any soap opera.
